Every surrender begins at dawn: as white sand hallelujah. how morning— fingers lean toward god’s face. & drum sticks with lamps, closed doors. ‘cause the tigers of rich ground, bear them redemption. in this dance of the spirit, swear an oath to defend your petition [graveyard]. dawn is home but still dies. & breakthrough: charging cables of moon flowers. man is an image of strange balloons apart from sun. time bombs, weather green or simply gorgeous. holy ghost fire. & yeast of harmattan: pendulum birds will return home. sing adrift toward a clean vase of history. once folded in the days of unbreakable light–this ember, unsafe: how he formed, deformed into lashes of cat-piss(ies). & loved into iodine blessings. let the wind hit the season with flowers of honour & god & i am still your child, mama.

Onyishi Chukwuebuka Freedom (he/him), is of Igbo descent and a graduate of English and Literary Studies, University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
